I am an Assistant Professor
at the National University of Singapore.
My research and teaching interests are at the intersection of entrepreneurship and competitive strategy.
In the realm of entrepreneurship, I investigate the strategies that start-ups can employ to successfully introduce their initial product to the market, compete with established firms, secure funding, and eventually divest their operations. On the competitive strategy side, I examine the strategic interactions between start-ups and incumbents, as well as between companies with varying resources (e.g., weak vs strong, specialized vs fungible). In my research, I frequently combine formal theory with large-scale empirical analysis. In terms of research design, I pay particular attention to the problem of causality and rely on external shocks or field experiments to identify the theorized mechanisms.

My work has been published in Strategic Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, and MIT Sloan Management Review.
